The Aktá Lakota Museum & Cultural Center is pleased to welcome back one of our favorite summer traditions—Story Time with Uŋčí & Lalá, beginning Tuesday, June 2.
This free public program invites families and visitors to experience the richness of American Indian history, culture, and storytelling through engaging Native-authored books read aloud by elders from local communities. Their voices, wisdom, and presence help bring each story to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
While Story Time is designed with children in mind, guests of all ages are welcome to attend and enjoy this special cultural experience together.
Program Details
📚 When: Every Tuesday in June and July
🕥 Time: 10:30–11:30 AM

More Than a Story
Each session includes interactive cultural activities following the reading, giving children and families the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences, creativity, and conversation.
Storytelling has always played an important role in Lakota culture—passing down values, history, humor, and lessons from one generation to the next. Story Time with Uŋčí and Lalá continues that tradition in a welcoming space where learning and connection come together.
