As an educational outreach of St. Joseph’s Indian School and an organization dedicated to the Lakota culture and people, privacy is vital.

We add guests who visit our museum to our mailing list. We also put on our mailing list individuals, who place orders, make donations, or request our email updates.

From this information, we track transactions you have with us so we can better meet your needs. Please get in touch with us at 1-800-798-3452 or aktalakota@stjo.org if you have general questions or comments.

Because we operate as an outreach program of St. Joseph’s Indian School, we receive names and postal information from American Indian-interest lists purchased by St. Joseph’s. The Direct Marketing Association carefully screens these lists. For information on The Association’s policies and procedures, or to have your information removed from all lists, please click here

We make select portions of our postal mailing list available to carefully screened organizations. However, you always have the option to be removed from our rental list. To keep your information private, please email us at aktalakota@stjo.org or call 1-800-341-2235.

Also, we DO NOT sell or share email addresses. We do not put email addresses on our files without consent through direct correspondence with or donations to us.

Because our friends are a special part of our extended family, we occasionally receive birth dates from various persons and sources. This information is used so the children at St. Joseph’s Indian School  send you birthday greetings. To be excluded from this program, please email us at aktalakota@stjo.org or call us toll-free at 1-800-341-2235.

We do not randomly collect information on our website. We gather general information regarding pages visited, time spent on each page and resources accessed.

Additionally, we enter information volunteered by visitors, such as survey information and raffle entries, into our system for tracking and corresponding purposes.

Just as St. Joseph’s Indian School is dedicated to serving the Lakota children, the Aktá Lakota Museum & Cultural Center serves and respects Lakota culture and traditions. We are happy to honor all your reasonable wishes and instructions. We encourage you to contact us via phone, postal mail or email at any time with concerns, changes, questions or comments.

For further information on your rights as a consumer and how to remove your name from all mailing lists, please visit The Direct Marketing Association.
