South Dakota DOT Construction Update
I-90 West and I-90 East near Chamberlain
August 31, 2023:
Motorists are advised to the following information regarding the Rest Area on Interstate 90 near Chamberlain. The rest area is not closed, however, due to the construction project, it will only be accessible in one direction for the entire summer of 2023.
Current Closures: Eastbound ramps to/from the Chamberlain rest area and exit 263 (Chamberlain) will be CLOSED.
August Completed Work: The contractor completed concrete work in the westbound driving and passing lanes. Completed asphalt concrete work on the westbound shoulders and median drainage area. Completed placing topsoil and seeding in the westbound lanes.
Anticipated work in September: Set up traffic control and move head-to-head traffic from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes. Girder repair work on the bridge over the Missouri River in the eastbound lanes will begin and pipe work in the eastbound lanes will begin.
