Hohukazunta - Rib sled
A winter favorite for boys and girls. The hohukazunta is traditionally made of buffalo bone ribs. Half of the sled is made up of ribs from the left side and the half made up of ribs from the right side of the buffalo. Elk rawhide is used to bind the ribs; chokecherry is used for the split sticks. A buffalo hide was placed on the sled before a child sat on it. Children liked to stand on the sled, hold onto the strap and slide down hill. |
